Marriage may be contracted in accordance with law by two persons without distinction as to their sex.

So reads the thirty-fourth amendment to the Irish constitution, enshrining the right to marry to same-sex couples, and the right to be treated as a family in accordance with law. Today, the people of Ireland are re-writing the source code of their country in the name of equality.

When a country as firmly rooted in a western religion as Ireland is can stand up and say to their LGBT brothers and sisters “we accept you,” it’s a very good day.
